The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre has achieved a six star green star environmental rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. In addition to solar hot water, water efficient appliances and other initiatives, the centre has the first blackwater treatment solution to be used in a public area of this scale. It collects building wastewater and some stormwater to provide treated water for toilets, irrigation and cooling towers.
